Tybee Adventure

I attended College of Charleston in South Carolina and one of my roomies introduced me to Tybee Island. We hated to miss you Jennifer!!! It is a small beach community outside of Savannah, GA. Bri and I have been back a few times as well as a few girl's weekends with Mom and Lauren/Leila. We love Tybee because it isn't as commercialized as other beaches and the beach is beautiful! We decided to take a long weekend and introduce Belle to Tybee. We were a little concerned since it is about a six hour drive, but Belle did great! Once we were settled in the room we set up her little "tent" pack-in-play and she gave Daddy a few quick smiles before she fell asleep!

The next day we woke up and enjoyed a long walk on the beach where Belle met her first crab and saw the pretty dunes and lighthouse.  It was already steaming so after our walk we headed for a dip in the pool before nap time!

Since it was a warm day Mommy and Daddy alternated time outside so one of us could be inside while Belle napped and played.  I know she isn't old enough to play with beach toys, but I still had to buy her some ;).  She enjoyed digging the carpet and playing with them inside.  As Brian said, new toys!

Belle seemed a little fussy on Friday afternoon and I thought it was due to her "first" tooth trying to come through, but then I noticed that the white on her tongue had spread to her cheeks!  Ugh--the thrush was back!  My pediatrician had told us not to worry about it unless it spread to the cheeks.  At this time it was 4:15pm on Friday and first time Mommy panic began to sink in!  How was I going to get her medicine on Tybee Island at 4:15pm on a FRIDAY!!!  I called the nurse hotline at our doctor's office and explained the situation.  She talked to our doctor and they called Belle and I a prescription in at the ONLY pharmacy located on Tybee Island!  All in a matter of 30 minutes!!!  We LOVE our pediatrician ;).  The pharmacy was so cute and helpful.  They even had ties to NC, with the pharmacist's son just graduating from Elon.  For those of you that ever travel to Tybee, we highly recommend Island Pharmacy!!  After we were able to medicate we decided to stop by a local seafood market and cook our own seafood!  So yummy-we steamed oysters, scallops, clams and shrimp for dinner and watch the beautiful sunset and numerous dolphins.  A perfect ending to an overall great day!

On Saturday, we decided to let Belle explore the beach.  We celebrated her 9 month birthday!!!  I will add a few milestones into this post-clapping hands and waving are our newest tricks!

Wow, I didn't realize that you had to basically move an entire house to take a baby to the beach.  I think everyone was staring at us as we carried chairs, tent, cooler, toys, diaper bag, blanket and baby down to the beach.  I think Belle really like the beach (it was her second visit-first in Florida)--first trip since she has been mobile.  She kept getting mad at me because I wouldn't let her shovel fist fulls of sand in her mouth.  Brian finally told me to just let her try a little bit.  When I wouldn't let her continue eating she had enough of the beach!

Brian and I again traded time on the beach/pool while the other hung out with Belle inside.  After her afternoon nap we headed out for an early dinner, yes you eat at 5:15pm once you have a baby!  Belle loved flirting with all the wait staff and of course everyone LOVED her as well.  We stopped by the Sugar Shack for some yummy ice cream after dinner.

We decide to wrap up our last night at the beach with a walk on the beach during sunset.  Carrying the Bob down the stairs with a little cooler of water and diaper bag plus a baby is a little stressful.  Thank goodness there are two parents!  More on that in a minute.  We enjoyed taking a few pictures of our beach baby!  I took a few of Brian and Belle with their back turned to me. Yes I am obsessed with how adorable they are so excuse the numerous pics!  Too bad we couldn't get her to sit still long enough to get more adorable shots of her in the sand.  Maybe in July? Haha she will be even more mobile then!

After our walk we decide to sit and chat by the pool for a bit before heading up to the room.  All of a sudden I noticed that I didn't have the condo key!  I remembered putting it in the diaper bag as we were lugging things down to the beach.  I remembered I didn't zip the outside pocket!  No key, no cell phone and past Belle's bedtime.  After spending a while trying to locate the key I knew it was lost!  If we just didn't have so much to take with us for some simple pictures, right?!!  I met some really nice people from Statesville, NC that had their computer and cell phone outside with them.  I was able to look up the rental emergency number and use their cell to call.  The guy was super nice and was to the condos in around 10 minutes with a key.  Whew!  So one pharmacy trip and a lost key for our first weekend traveling without  extended family wasn't too bad!  I am sure we will have more adventurous stories to share from other trips this summer!  Off to unpack and get ready for our CRAZY week!

Little Ms. Personality

I wish I would have captured so many moments on camera today.  Belle has turned into a little comedian lately.  We laugh at her all the time.  I am not sure if it is because she is more mobile and active or she is just developing her personality more.

For instance, the toilet paper roll is her new best friend.  She was sitting on my lap, I know while I was going to the bathroom and all the sudden she started going crazy on the toilet paper. Rolling it front and back-kicking her legs and flapping her arms all at the same time.  All with a sense of amazement on her face--I just sat there and laughed at loud.

Now that Belle can pull herself up we had to lower her crib--she pulls herself up and looks like she is jail peeping through the bars.  She just sits there and smiles.   She looks so funny!!

Today we went to church with Grams and Umpa G where Belle enjoyed seeing lots of old friends and meeting new ones.  She was so well behaved!  We were able to do a little research for our multi-site location at Mt. Tabor which was very helpful!  We enjoyed lunch at the yummy Village Tavern where Grams taught Belle how to make some new noises...thanks Grams ;).

Later in the afternoon, Mommy and Daddy wanted to take a nap but Belle thought she would entertain us instead. This I really wish I had the camera...her newest trick is jumping or bouncing with her arms up to I guess to a beat in her head.  She actually has a little rhythm..we aren't sure where that came from..esp if you know her parents!!  It is sooo funny!  I hope to catch it on video or camera later this week.  She really amuses herself.

Grandpa is off to Scotland tomorrow and Belle's Uncle Kevin got engaged this weekend!  A lot of new and exciting news.  Have fun Grandpa!  Congrats Kevin and Lynn!

Mommy's outfit

Belle and I enjoyed lunch with Grams and Umpa G on Saturday.  After lunch we headed back to their house for a little play time.  Belle loves playing with Baa-baa, her little sheep.  I am thinking that is why one of her new words is baa-baa.  After a little visit we headed home for a much needed nap.

Once Daddy was off work we enjoyed a little cookout.  Bri's friend, Matt joined us for ribs!
Belle wore one of my little strawberry outfits--of course she looked adorable and brought back many memories for Grams.

Walk date

Belle enjoyed eating T's sunglasses!
My dear friend Teresa came through town on Saturday and we were able to meet up at the most amazing county park, Tanglewood for a walking date!  I love catching up with friends on walking dates...no real interruption, excercise and free!  We had such a great time catching up.  Belle joined in the conversation, but decided a nap was in order towards the end of our date.  We can't wait for a Waldo's date soon!

Summer bubbles

With the warming weather I am enjoying dressing Belle in little "bubbles."  They are so easy to get her in and out and make it easy for her to crawl around.  I must say she is getting speedy in the crawling department!

Tired Girl!

On Tuesday when I headed to pick Belle up from Lennette's she had such a great day playing with Emerson that a nap wasn't top priority in the afternoon.  As soon as we were home she fell right asleep in her crib.  So precious.  About 45 minutes later she was up to play with Mommy and Daddy for about 1 hour before she went down for the evening.  She loves playing with her musical flowers!  Thanks Aunt Amy.

Memorial Day Cookout and first dip in the pool

In our neighborhood on Memorial Day--someone goes around and places a flag in front of everyone's home.  I don't know who does it, but I love it!  It makes me so proud of our country and those that have fought to give us our freedom!

Gigi and Pap invited us over for a wonderful cookout on Memorial Day!  Belle enjoyed hangingout with her cousins John Harrison, Davis and Baby Kiger ;)  She loved watching John Harrison.  I hope this doesn't mean she is already flirting with boys!! Daddy chalks it up to her just loving her cousins!

After a little nap Belle enjoyed her first experience in both the baby pool and BIG pool.  Aunt Amy had a great float that we will be purchasing for our beach trips this summer.  She was so nice to let Belle borrow it.  I was shocked how much she enjoyed the water.  Most suprised on how happy she was in the big pool with Daddy since the water was a little chilly.  I think we already have beach/summer baby on our hands!

Thanks Gigi and Pap for such a lovely day!
